Myofascial release

Is a therapy used to treat musculoskeletal pain and immobility, relaxes contracted muscles, improves blood and lymphatic circulation, and stimulates the stretch reflex in muscles.
Fascia is a type of thin, tough, elastic connective tissue that surrounds most structures in the human body, including muscles. Fascia supports and protects these structures. When fascial restrictions exist due to overuse of a muscle or muscle zone, trauma, infectious agents or inactivity, it often results in pain, muscle tension and corresponding decrease in blood flow, which improves with this type of therapy.
